Thinking of You!

DSC_0012

Screen Shot 2016-04-08 at 12.03.01 PMHello Friends,  It’s Memorial Day weekend…Yahoooo! It’s also Saturday and time for a new challenge over at Just Us Girls. Lisa is our hostess and she picked out a great bright photo for us. As you can probably tell by my card I was inspired by the yellow walls along with the splashes of bright pinks all over the desk.  The square piece of paper behind my sentiment was made using bits of various different colors of paper. The technique is something I learned from my Stampin Up demonstrator a while back and it’s called the Bargello technique.  Yes, it actually has a name. LOL  There are many different styles of this technique all over the internet.  I know quilters use it a lot.  Anyhoo, I had to use my handy- dandy easel (sent to me from my lovely friend Judy) to photograph my card as it doesn’t stand up on it’s own. Most of the supplies are SU except for the flower and button!  Hope you have a terrific weekend!  I know I will, because I will be meeting one of my BFFIBL and fellow JUGS and STB Design Team Member’s Sharyn on Sunday morning!  I am beyond excited!!!  Sharyn and I have been talking nearly everyday for the past three years and I am so glad this is finally happening!  Pics to follow for sure!

I also need to say thanks to Aileen our Guest Designer over at Just Us Girls.  You were a delight to have onboard this month Aileen!  Take care,  Nanc’

Just For You!

DSC_0007

Screen Shot 2016-04-08 at 11.45.51 AMHello Friends,  Another week has flown by and it’s time for a new challenge at Just Us Girls. It’s Color Week this week and Sue has picked out a fun color trio. Some of the DT and I took some liberties with the plum and used any shade of purple that we had to work with, so feel free to do the same. This card is made with all Stampin Up supplies, except for the smaller flowers that I added that were made with a MS punch. I really love the patterned vellum don’t you?  Hope you have a nice weekend and if your find yourself being creative, please come over and join us! Nanc’

Dimension at Seize the Birthday!

DSC_0019

STB ToppingsHello Friends,  I couldn’t wait any longer to get out my favorite die from Stampin Up and make another card with it.  It’s just so gosh darn pretty and the results are always wonderful.  The topping over at Seize the Birthday this week is Dimension, so as you can see by the angle of my photo the flowers are popped up with dimensionals along with the other many layers I have added too.  The cute little bow is from Paper Smooches, the background script is from Stampabilities and the sentiment is from Verve. I sure hope you will come on over to Seize the Birthday and join us!  Take care and happy creating!  Nanc’  Below is a better front view of my card.

Vellum-Bridal Shower

DSC_0139 Screen Shot 2016-04-08 at 11.36.27 AM

Hello Friends,  First let me apologize for the poor photo.  This was one of those days where I was a tad rushed.  Someone asked me at school to make a quick wedding card that they needed the very next day, so I didn’t get the chance to play around with the lightning. I assure you that the bottom of the wedding dress does indeed have a vellum panel overlay, as the challenge is in fact to use vellum this week over at Just Us Girls.  The dress is something I quickly sketched and traced, the EF makes a nice touch to the dress don’t you think?  I used a MS punch to create the bottom scallop and the white flowers are also made with a MS punch as well. The sentiment is heat embossed on vellum and is from Stampin Up.  I added a piece of ribbon, some hearts, and rhinestones and I was finished.  I have seen many variations of a wedding dress like this over on Pinterest, so the original idea is not my own.

Please come on over this week to Just Us Girls and check out what my fabulous team and guest Aileen did using vellum too!  Take care, Nancy

Butterflies

DSC_0172

Screen Shot 2016-04-08 at 11.32.31 AMHello Friends,  In honor of Secretaries day a little over a week ago, I made butterfly boxes to give to all the secretaries at both my hubby’s school and my school to let them know we appreciate them.  My hubby said his secretaries were almost in tears as he was the only one in the entire school that acknowledged them.  How sad is that.  They came out really cute and of course they are filled with chocolate. I knew this butterfly challenge was coming up at Just Us Girls and thought they would be perfect. The box is from Stampin Up and is called the Curvy Keepsake Box and the butterfly die is from Savvy Dies and is punched out of cardstock and decorative vellum as well. The vellum is gorgeous, I wish you could see it. They all have tags on the sides that say for you, but you can’t see them in the photos….I was a tad rushed.  Please come over to Just Us Girls and see what the talented team and our New Guest Designer Aileen has done!  Welcome Aileen!!  While you are over there, consider breaking out those butterflies and joining us this week, we would love to have you!  Take care,  Nanc’  Happy Mother’s Day too!

Here is a pic of the rest of them.

Coloring and Meeting Teammates

DSC_0006STB ToppingsHello Friends, Good morning from Seattle!  The sun is shining and it’s going to be a great day!  Before I get to my card! Let me tell you why I am so excited, besides the obvious, spending the next four days with my son! Today while Ty is at work, I am having lunch with my friend Colleen, one of my teammates at STB.  I am so thrilled that she went out of her way to come to Seattle so we can meet in person!  She is bringing another card making friend along by the name of Linda, who is on the Merry Monday Design Team and I can’t wait to meet her as well!  I am sure we will all hit it off right away!  That is one of the many reasons I love this great hobby of ours, the genuinely good people you get to meet along the way, thanks to the internet!

Okay,  It’s time to break out those pens, pencils, markers or whatever you choose to color with and join us over at Seize the Birthday for our Coloring Topping.  The challenge starts today and runs for about two weeks, so I hope you decide to join us.  Before I got started, I knew I wanted to use this beautiful rose stamp set, but didn’t know what direction I wanted to take it, until I decided to CASE myself. I chose to color my image with my Prisma colored pencils.  The awesome die cut is from Verve, the other word-stamps are a mix and match of pieces of other stamps to make this sentiment work.  The EF is from Stampin Up that I sanded for some added texture.  Here is a pic of my other card that was made back in 2008 when I first started blogging.  Wow, it’s been that long!

Before I go, you MUST come on over to Seize the Birthday and take a look at all the amazing cards from my teammates and Surprise party guest Patti. They did an outstanding job!

Hope to see you at STB!  Time to go out and tackle the streets of Seattle! HUGS!

More Butterflies!

DSC_0004

13I have another card I would like to share with you today that I made on Sunday which was inspired by the Photo over at Inspired by All the Little Things.  They are featuring the talented Amy Kolling who I just so happen to be a huge fan of! I also missed last week’s challenge as I was determined to not miss this one. Plus look at that gorgeous butterfly, who could resist that! My butterfly die is from Savvy Dies and I paper pieced it after I cut it out in various colors to match the photo. The word create is a die from Penny Black.  I think I am going to use this as a graduation card and in the inside write…..Create….. the life you imagined! Have a fabulous day!  I leave for Seattle Wednesday afternoon so I better get packing!   Nanc’

CAS(E) this Sketch- Amazing You!

DSC_0002

CTS_170Hello Friends,  As soon as I saw this unique sketch over at CASE this Sketch I knew I had to try to squeeze in some time to play in my studio on Sunday, and I succeeded! I also got these incredible word dies from Verve called Amazing Adjectives that I wanted to break in so badly. The butterfly die is from Savvy, and the YOU is just a portion of a die from Neat and Tangled that I cut a apart.  This card did not come together quietly as it had many variations of paper and accents before landing on this one.

Hope you have a wonderful week! I personally will, as I am counting the days till I leave for Seattle.  I am fortunate enough to be spending Mother’s Day with my son this year and I am over the top excited!  I have never traveled by myself before, so wish me luck!

Take care,  Nanc’
