CAS Pool Party

Hello, I have a quick CAS card for you today using these adorable penguins from MFT.  I started off using this fun paper from Stampin Up and some Oxide Inks to get started.  What I love about this paper, as you can see, it has a pattern.  So as you blend the inks the cool pattern reveals itself. I used both Broken China and Tumbled Glass to achieve my pool color that I was looking for.  My photo doesn’t show the variations of color very well.  I decided to stamp the sentiment directly on the paper and it turned out better than I expected.  As I took a tissue over the sentiment after it dried, part of the sentiment came off too. I kinda think it looks as if the greeting is on the bottom of the pool. I used the white corners to mimic the steps or shelf seating you see around real swimming pools. I used Prisma colored pencils with my images.  My colors and idea for this card started with The Color Throwdown.

I hope you can escape the world a little today by being creative, Nanc’

Patterned Paper

Hello,  We have a fun Wild Card Challenge this week at Just Us Girls.   I know you have some patterned Paper lying around.  I have really been making a conscious effort to try to use some of it up. I just love making baby cards so I knew right away that I would be pulling out this fun die set from MFT. However, the sun and clouds are from Lawn Fawn. I took a square die from SU to make my window. I kinda screwed up the placement of my clothes ( now that I am examining my card) as they appear to be hanging inside the window instead of outside.  It must have been really windy that day. LOL

I sure hope you swing on by the JUGS blog and check out the teammate’s cards and our guest Deborah.  This is her last challenge with us. We hope you have enjoyed yourself Deborah, as we have really enjoyed having you!

Take care, Nanc’

Happy Birthday-Altenew

Hello,  I wanted to make sure I had a chance to join the Paper Players challenge this week.  So last night I made a card using a stamp set from Altenew.  I still haven’t mastered this multi-step stamp set.  It’s not as easy as I thought it would be even with directions. LOL I will prevail someday!

I have stretched the sketch a bit now that I looked at it again, as my center panel is a bit too big. Oops!  I popped up a few of my flowers to cover the ones that looked terrible. The sentiment is from Gina K.

Today is the last day of school for me. This isn’t quite how I would have imagined the year would have ended, but this picture makes it a bit easier. It was taken with some of the kindergarten kids on the 100th day of school this year.  If you look closely the kids decorate their clothes with 100 of something to help celebrate.  The little boy in front of me has 100 plastic bugs on his shirt.  And in puff paint the mom wrote, I bugged my teacher 100 days this year. LOL  It is always such a fun day.  I sure hope next year starts and ends better than this one. I miss those faces so much!

I hope you have a creative day, Nanc’

Heart Rainbows

Hello, I have a CASE today of a fabulous card that I fell in love with from A Paper Melody.  If you haven’t seen Melody’s work you seriously must!  I have linked her website up for you.  When I started my card I softly sponged a pink sky background. Then I gathered hearts from various stamp companies and my Catherine Pooler inks and started randomly stamping my hearts.  Then I dropped my ink pad and may have said a naughty word.  That is when I decided to forge ahead and find a pretty background paper to mount my rainbow on. I think the dotted paper worked well.  It was a happy accident as I like the way the card turned out.  If you look closely at parts of the rainbow and at the clouds they have fun foam beneath them for added depth.  I should have taken another photo to show you the depth, but the card is currently sealed in my mailbox as I type and on its way to its recipient.  The sentiments are from Gina K and the fun clouds are MFT.  I will be making more of these fun cards for sure!

I am linking this card up over at Addicted to CAS where the word is Rainbow. I am also entering this card over at Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge where the word is smile.  I don’t know about you but everyone loves rainbows and they sure make me smile when I see them.  Plus my card is going to a dear friend that is away from her family right now, and going through a rough time.  I sure hope my card will make her smile.

I hope the next time it rains and you look closely at the sky, you may find a heart stamped rainbow too.  Nanc’

CAS Panda Bears

CAS is not as easy as one would think.  I have had this darling panda stamp set from Woodware Craft Collection for a very long time and it was past time to get some ink on it.  It is a very large stamp with five Pandas all connected in one long strip.  Since I didn’t have a block large enough and my Misti is a mini I decided to cut them apart. Luckily there was just enough space in between the bears to cut them without ruining anything. So now I have three single bears and two bears frolicking on the ground. SCORE! I paired this cutie up with some foliage from SU and the speech bubble is SU also.  The greeting is Verve. I did give the cute little bear some shading of grey with some Prismas.

I am linking one of these cards over at Perfectly CAS where the word is Animals and over at NBUS with Darnell!

Have a creative day! Nanc’

PS- Hubby and I went to a real craft store today. Besides the grocery store and Dunkin drive-thru (We are addicted to Caramel Iced Lattes. ) we haven’t been anywhere in about 8 weeks. Can I just say it was really strange.  I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would and looked forward to coming home. It was a craft store too!! I am just as shocked as you are right about now! I think I may have become more of an introvert than I already was….and I don’t consider this a good thing. 😦

Just Because

Hello,  I am in love with the trio of colors at The Color Throwdown (how can you not love grey and yellow together).  Seriously, one of my favorite color combos for sure.

Card Details:  Stampin Up (Bloom and Grow) is the flower and the script embossing folder is also SU. Just Because is from Altenew. I have Wink of Stella giving some love to the flowers, but it’s hard to see in the pic.  The white coaster is from the Greetery and gifted to me by a friend.  I want to order it soon, but it’s always not available when I check. The yellow gems are SU.

Thanks for your visits and sweet comments, Nanc’

Just Us Girls and Twofer!

Hello,  I have two different challenges for the above cards today! First, it’s time for our weekly Just Us Girls challenge where we have a photo to inspire you.  The first thing I noticed in the photo was the pussy willows. So I decided to embrace those along with the colors blue, yellow, and orange.  I hope you will consider joining us!

Next, over at The Twofer Challenge, the theme is flowers.  So I took the same SU floral and designed my second card.  Which looks very similar to a pink and grey one I posted about ten days ago. I am in love with this new Country Home set from SU, and as I had mentioned, I made quite a few cards using that stamp and the Buffalo Check background stamp. I don’t think I am quite ready to file them away yet so beware!  The sentiments are from Stampin Up. My mediums are Copics and Prisma colored pencils.

Stay safe, Nanc

A Bouquet…

Hello, I thought I would join along in the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches this week. I needed to make a card for a co-worker that is retiring at the end of this school year and I knew this sketch would get me started in the right direction. I pulled out one of my favorite floral stamp sets by Stampendous and did some under layer water coloring with a bit of Prisma coloring to define some areas of the images. I have certainly been on a coloring craze as of late.  I added some flicked watercolors splats when I was done.  The Designer Paper is from MFT.

I hope whatever you do this holiday weekend it contains something that brings you joy, Nanc’

Tropical Birthday

Hello, We have a fun topping starting over at STB today.  The topping Is TROPICAL.  I think right about now we all wish we were trapped on a tropical island somewhere, maybe holding some type of cocktail with an umbrella in it and are biggest thought being… did I use enough sunscreen?  So I guess, we will all just have to be inspired by the dream right about now and you will have to show us your tropical paradise in a card form.  I am not denying that I do realize I already live in paradise, but I will say that our palm trees don’t come in those fun patterned papers. LOL

Now as for today’s card details:  A few days ago I mentioned that I made some card backgrounds using Gesso and I was trying to make some CAS cards and ended up with lots and lots of layers.  Well, this was the card I was speaking of. The water was made with a brand new stencil (from Taylored Expressions) that I just received some Gesso and Oxide Inks. The sun is a die from Lawn Fawn, the sentiment is Verve and the rest is from MFT.  The clouds are done with an MFT stencil as well.  The palm fronds were made with some Gina K designer paper that is so old but still one of my favorite patterns ever.

I am linking my card up over at two additional challenge sites;  The first one being- Time Out Challenges where the word Is Free.  If a tropical paradise doesn’t make you free of all your worries I don’t know what else would!  The second challenge Is over at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge where I have selected the center row of Blue, Square, and Outdoors.  The other two are obvious but I have a square pattern on my sun in case you were wondering.

Please come on over to Seize the Birthday and join us! The design team and our guest Jo did a great job with our topping, plus we would love to have you!

Stay well, Nanc’

Happy Father’s Day

Hello,  Today I have a stamp set from Mulberry stamps that I bet I have had for at least 10+ years and has never been inked up. Seriously, I am not exaggerating. Now that I am starting to feel a bit more comfortable with my coloring skills I decided to give it a shot.  I have been doing a lot of coloring in the evenings, it seems to have a calming effect on me, and many others I am sure.  I used both Copic and Prismas for this piece. I added the clouds with my MFT stencil. I have been doing that after my piece is colored and you have to be a little bit more careful and have to go on the lighter side.  Now the cute little bear and his dog look as if they are trapped on an island. LOL  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

I am linking this cutie up over at The Paper Players where the theme is CAS with Men in Mind.  I sure hope it’s CAS enough! Fingers crossed.

I guess I better link up with Darnell too over at NBUS.  My stamp set deserves that, as it’s been waiting for 10+ years!

Stay well and if you are a little stressed….try coloring!  I was told wine works too! Nanc’
