For this Child, I Prayed

Hello, It is the 5th Sunday of the month so it is time for the fun Tic Tac Toe Challenge over at The Paper Players. Laurie has come up with a fun board for us to pick from. I don’t know about you but I really enjoy these types of challenges, as it gives you so many different options to chose from. I have chosen the top row of die-cut, animal, and scene.

Card Details: I used a negative heart stencil and an MFT cloud stencil to make my cloud background. The cute dragons are also from MFT and they are colored with Copics and Prisma Colored Pencils. The cloud dies are also MFT and I didn’t like them stark white so I took a regular number 2 pencil and my finger and gave them some smudgy shading. I pulled out an older Verve stamp set for my greeting. I am pretty pleased with how this turned out and I can’t always say that. ;). I even gave the momma dragon some eyebrows.

Prayers

Hello Friends, Today’s card is for Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls . Lisa is our hostess and she has selected Masking for her challenge. This card was made for a friend of mine that had both parents in the hospital and on ventilators due to Covid. Sadly, her mom didn’t make it but I heard just a day or so ago that her dad is pulling through. I feel so bad for this family and their two young sons as their grandma was such a huge part of their lives. COVID stinks for so many! It makes me so grateful that my family and I are all healthy but makes me feel so sad and a bit guilty for those who are suffering or have suffered. I am going about my life rather normally and others are hurting so bad.

As for this card. It was very fun to do and I will do my best to explain the steps. First, I took three separate hearts that were cut out of acetate and carefully adhered them to my card base. I used the pool stencil from MFT to make the grey background using Oxide Inks. When I was done it reminded me of camouflage and I kinda liked it. Next, I removed two of the three hearts and lined up the negative piece, and worked on each heart one at a time. When I was working on the hearts I didn’t adhere them down at all (as I didn’t want to risk damaging the background) and had to be very careful while sponging. I had one part that I missed with the grey that I tried to go back and fix and unfortunately I made it much worse. My mom always said to leave well enough alone! I never learned that lesson. LOL Next, I noticed that the hearts weren’t very defined so I took a pencil and softly outlined the heart stencil to make them more apparent. Last, I decided to use the prayers die-cut and stamps from Hero Arts as I thought it would be perfect. I cut it out four times for added dimension.

This is quite and unusual pattern to use for a thinking of you or sympathy card but I love the way it turned out.

I hope you come over to Just Us Girls and play along with us.

Before I go I would like to thank Carol and Melanie for being such fabulous guests this month at JUGS. We really enjoyed all your creativity ladies and hope to see you back in the gallery again very soon.

Take care of yourselves, Nanc’

Hello…just a little something

Hello, I hope this post finds you well! Today over at The Paper Players it’s time for Sketch Week. I love sketches…do you? I feel they make the design come together so much faster as the template is made for you. Joanne has a fun one for us today! Please don’t look too closely at my card as I did a terrible job inking the sky and grass. I didn’t have the stamp set to make a mask with, so I was inking around the image as carefully as I could. I had borrowed this stamp from a friend and only stamped a few, and I didn’t want to waste one of these cute little bears on a mask that was going to get all inky.

Card Details: Bear is from Ellen Hutson, Flowers- Colossal Con-flowers in the background are from Gina K. (also given to me from a friend). The greeting is a mix of Gina K. (a little something) and (Hello) is Papertrey Ink. The sky -MFT stencil, the grass is also an old MFT die that I used to make a stencil. The tag, flowers, and rectangle dies are all MFT. The butterfly is a MS punch.

Come see what the rest of the fabulous Design Team did with this challenge, you truly will be inspired!

Is it too early for Season’s Greetings?

Hello, I have made another Christmas card for you today. Is it too early? Are you as surprised as I am? Over at Just Us Girls, the photo that we have today just looked like Christmas to me, so that is where my inspiration began.

Here are a few card details: Background was made with Oxide inks and white splatter paint. The die-cut is from Taylored Expressions. The bow is from Paper Smooches. There are also very small star dies in the sky made with a Verve border die-cut and the sentiment is Verve as well.

Before I go I am also going to link up my card over at CAS Mix Up where they have asked us to use Splatters on our card and or project.

Please join us this week at Just Us Girls. The girls and our two guests Carol and Melanie have done a fabulous job! Take care, Nanc’

Transparency or Vellum

Hello, I hope you are doing well and staying healthy. Today over at Seize the Birthday we have a new topping starting that was selected by the talented Ashwini. The topping is to use Vellum or Transparency on your card and or project. I just love the look of vellum on a card it is easy to do with such a great look.

My card was very quick to through together. I am using what is certainly becoming one of my favorite stamp and die sets from Stampin Up called… Forever Fern. I used a very old wooden stamp that is also SU to make my grey splatters. The sentiment is also from SU and the scalloped dies are MFT.

Before I go I would like to say farewell to Julie Peddicord. She has been a fabulous Surprise Party Guest with us for the past two months and we are certainly going to miss her. Thanks for all your inspiration Julie.

I hope you will consider coming by STB and joining us! Remember our topping is always optional any birthday card will do.

Take care, Nanc’

CAS Snow

Hello, I hope you are doing well! It’s time for our CAS challenge over at The Paper Players and the theme is Snow. I so enjoyed this challenge being a Florida girl and all. Plus it gives me a jumps start on Christmas cards.

Card Details: I made my snowbanks with Oxide Inks and a template made from a Lawn Fawn- hills die. I use acetate so I can reuse them again. The cute little Ele is from MFT, the snowflakes are from Gina K Designs, the sentiment is Gina K too. The Santa hat die is from Lawn Fawn. I used a mix of three colors to achieve the color I was looking for. Broken China, Iced spruce, and Tumbled Glass.

I am also going to link my card up over at Addicted to CAS where the code word is Snow!

Wedding Wishes

Hello, It is the middle of the month already, and time for our next choice of colors at Color Hues. The colors I have chosen for us our Navy and Cream. As soon as I picked my colors I knew I was going to make a wedding card. When I think of cream I always think wedding. It’s such an elegant color don’t you think?

Here are a few card details: The fun heart die background is from MFT. The designer paper, the heart stamp, the circle die, and the greeting are from Stampin Up. The scalloped die is from Spellbinders.

You need to run on over to Color Hues and check out what the incredible design team did with the colors. We also have the fabulous Julie Peddicord joining us this time as our guest. Welcome, Julie!

Try to do something today that brings you joy, Nanc’

3 Shades of Blue

Hello, Here we are back to Saturday again, and time for another challenge at Just Us Girls. When I saw these colors my mind went straight to a baby card. I also had the MFT hearts die still on my desk for a card I will post later today and thought it would make a perfect background.

Card Details: The greeting, the little Elephant, and Balloons, heart die background, are all from MFT. I used some Copics and colored pencils for my medium. The white circle has been embossed with a hearts EF from SU but it’s hard to see in the pic. I just love how the felt balloons turned out. The background is designer paper.

We hope you will come on over to Just Us Girls and join the team and I for color week.

Take and try to find some joy in your day, Nanc’

I’m So Glad…

Hello Again, I am back today with the latest challenge from The Paper Players. It just happens to be time for our Color Challenge. If you know me, you know I love Color Challenges. Ann has selected the trio of colors below and of course one neutral.

Here are a few details: I just adore the seagull set from MFT. I used some yellow SU DP and a sun stencil for my background. The waves were first blended with Oxide Ink-on paper that was very close to the color Misty Moonlight. Then I took white paint and painted the swells to give them some white caps. The shell dies are from Impression Obsession. The little sunglasses are also from MFT. I used Oxide ink, and an old Stampin up stamp, and an MFT die for my sand. My coloring skills need a little work…I am certainly out of practice. I think my birds look a little dirty. LOL

A Bouquet…

Hello, How is it Saturday already? After this week’s events, I think we all could use a little bouquet of flowers as I pick me up. Not to mention the ongoing Pandemic. SIGH! Making this card was a nice distraction to escape from this world that I don’t recognize anymore. Over at Just Us Girls, it’s Trend Week and all you have to do is use a stencil.

Card Details: The stencil is called Groovy and from Mayco I do believe, the cute little elephant is an old stamp set that I have never used. It is from Crafters Companion. I used colored pencils as my medium.

I am once again going to link this cute little guy up over at NBUS with the incredible Darnell.

I hope you will consider joining us at JUGS this week and however you choose to spend your day that it will be a happy one. Take care, Nanc’
