More Christmas!

dsc_0399

screen-shot-2016-10-09-at-12-51-14-pmHello Friends,  It’s time for a new challenge at Just Us Girls! Vicki has picked the perfect Inspiration photo to help us get going on our Christmas cards!  I challenged myself to make 4 cards a month this year with a finished date of December 1st, and I’m sure I am going to make it, I only need one more!  Yaaaaahoooooooooo! I encourage you to do this next year, you’ll be glad you did! I sure am!  I seem to be on a roll with my Verve Christmas Stamps and you haven’t even seen all of them yet.  I am saving my four favorite cards that I have made this year for last.  I can say that this is one of my favs as well!  The photo doesn’t really do it justice…it’s much more sparkly in person!  I primarily used watercolors on this card with a Paper Smooches bow with the negative left in…I think it looks cool like that.  I finished it off with some Wink-a-Stella, some Stickles and two types of ribbon.  You can’t tell in the photo, but I raised the sentiment to give the bulb some depth.

Hope you have a fabulous day and find some time to join us at JUGS!   I also want to say Thanks to Cecile for being such a terrific Guest this month!  Nanc’

Love These Colors!

dsc_0329

screen-shot-2016-10-01-at-7-51-58-pmHello Friends, Happy Weekend and Happy Vacation to me!  Boy do I LOVE having a week off for Thanksgiving, plus Tyler and Sandra will be here on Tuesday.  Can you hear me smiling from ear to ear!  This is the longest hubby and I have ever gone from seeing Tyler and I sure can feel it! It’s been about 18 weeks.  That may not seem long to you…but it feel’s like an eternity to me! Tyler is feeling it too!  We have lots and lots to do to get the house ready along with Thanksgiving too, so I am going to get right to it!  Ina has a great Color Challenge for us over at Just Us Girls this week! Before you say, “Hey Nancy where is your gold?” Look very, very closely at the center of my flowers! I used GOLD Stickles. LOL  I kinda feel like I cheated on a test…But it is there..I promise!! LOL I Loved the Teal and Purple so much…I made two more cards! I only need two more Christmas Cards and I am finished with my quota!  It looks like I am going to make my deadline of December 1st! Woohooooo!

flowerchallengaspecialocassionI am also going to link the above card up over at a new challenge site called The Flower Challenge (which was started by the talented Aileen Ryan) where the challenge is a Special Occasion!  I wish them the best of luck…I think they are going to be very successful!

Card Details: The Stamps are from Verve, except the Happy Birthday is from SU.  The snowflakes peeking out from under the Pointsettias is a Martha Stewart Punch. I used my Prisma Colored pencils to color with.

I sure appreciate you stopping by today!  I hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving, just in case I don’t post anything else before then! Hugs, Nanc’

Presents

dsc_0304

STB ToppingsHello Friends,  Let’s get right to it shall we!  It’s time for a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday and our topping for the next couple of weeks is Presents. I’m just going to come out and say that I am not a fan of this card, but we can’t love them all now can we?  I think the best part about it is the Happy that I made with Washi Tape. The present looks like an after thought, even though the present was stamped and colored first. The cool star borders are from Verve and the star stitched dies are MFT.  The present stamp is from who knows where…. something I have had for eons.

Now come on over to Seize the Birthday and join us!  I know for sure you can do a better job than I did with this one.  My talented team and guest designer Sherrie sure did!  Speaking of Sherrie!  I would like to give her a HUGE thanks for being such a fabulous Surprise Party Guest the past two months and hope to see you in our gallery from time to time!

See you at STB!  Nanc’

Paper Players Color Challenge

dsc_0355

pp321Hello Friends,  As soon as I saw this color combo over at The Paper Players this week I knew I had to find sometime to play along. I managed to squeeze in sometime on Sunday night. At first glance at these colors, your mind might go directly to Christmas, I on the other hand needed a thinking of you card for someone special so I pulled out one of my ALL time FAVORITE stamps (from Northwood Stamp Company) and started coloring. I used both Copics and Prisma Colored pencils to color this awesome stamp.  I had to mix both mediums as my amount of Copics is really limited (10), plus I am still a newbie and need a lot more practice. I love the effect of cutting out a shaped panel on a very large stamp…I think it really kicks it up a notch.

Hope you have a terrific day and I will be back on Thursday with STB!  Hugs,  Nanc’

Verve’s Novemeber Inspiration Photo

nov16dihgraphicHello Friends,  The three cards that you see above were inspired by the awesome photo over at the Verve November Inspiration Challenge.  Julee has given us the liberties to take the challenge and run with it. You can use the tress, the colors, or whatever you choose to inspire you. I pulled out the great Winter Tree stamp from Verve that I thought matched the photo perfectly, and then the grey/white vintage DP that you see in the background, and then this is the color palette I ended up with. Totally different, but I think I like it. All the greetings are from Verve-Pinecone Christmas and Holly Jolly Christmas (retired I do believe). The snowy hills are a die from Lawn Fawn.  The snow EF is from Stampin UP. I also splattered some white paint on my trees for a snowy effect.  These cards look better in person…they are brighter than they appear.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend and can squeeze in sometime to be creative,  Nanc’

HUGS!

dsc_0308

screen-shot-2016-10-01-at-7-47-03-pmHello Friends,  It’s Saturday and time for a new challenge at Just Us Girls.  Bobby is our hostess and she has asked us to incorporate Metallics on our cards and or projects.  I didn’t use as much metallics on my card as the rest of the team did, but I did use a glossy gold card stock to cut out my HUGS!  The heart that little pooh has on his chest was punched from the same paper, but it doesn’t show up well in the photo. Isn’t Mr. Pooh Bear super cute?  I saw him over at Pinterest of course and fell smitten for him right away.  I made him using a few different SU punches.  I used the owl punch and the build a blossom punch.  The arms I had to free hand. I gave him some rosy cheeks with colored pencil. The hugs die is from Lawn Fawn.

So break out your metallic papers, or maybe some embossing powder, or even some gold or silver Stickles and join us! Who knows, you might even be chosen as our Chic of the Week.  Hope to see you in our gallery!  Nanc’

4 Cards for CAS(E) this Sketch

dsc_0317

cts_197Hello Friends,  I hope you enjoyed your day, however you chose to spend it.  I spent part of my morning, since I was up at the crack of dawn due to the time change, in my studio making these 4 cards.  I saw the perfect sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch, that I knew would help make these cards come together quickly…and that it did.  I got out one of my favorite stamp sets Beautiful Day- by Altenew and went to work.  The ink colors I used are from SU, they are Pool Party and Tip Top Taupe.  I mix and matched the stunning flowers with some sentiments from Verve, Close to My Heart, and Hero Arts. I used my Copic marker BG10 to add some shadows, or in one case colored the entire background. I just adore using my Fiskars cutter and victorian blade to add some frilliness to my cards.  Some might say that it’s kinda my signature as I do it a lot.

Let’s go look at the rest of them, shall we.

Encouragement

dsc_0291

screen-shot-2016-10-09-at-12-56-41-pmHello Friends, Sue has a terrific word for us over at Just Us Girls this week!  Way to go Sue, what a brilliant idea! I feel this week I kinda cheated a bit, as the only thing that is actually stamped on this card is the sentiment. ( which is from Verve)  Although, this Designer paper from Blue Bunny is so pretty all by itself, I think It worked out okay!  The added flowers for embellishment were made with a couple of punches I have had for 20+ years. I added some SU candy dots and the EF in the background is from Cuttlebug.  I used a sketch from Verve, that was not this past Mojo Monday Sketch, but actually the week before!  Not sure how that happened…but oh well! It’s kinda the week I have had, so I just got to go with it! I am sending this card to a friend of a friend, that is going through a rough time right now and I hope I can cheer her up a bit.

Before you head on over to Just Us Girls to join us, which I sure hope that you do, I need to welcome our new Guest Designer Cecile Ribon! to the team for the month of November. We are thrilled to have you with us Cecile, you make some wonderful cards!  Have a fabulous day!  Nanc’

Stencils

dsc_0294

STB ToppingsHello Friends,  I am going to make this short and sweet as I have a Baseball game that I have to watch here in a few minutes! I had such a great time making this card for our challenge over at Seize the Birthday.  The topping this time around is to use STENCILS on your card and or project.  This stencil is from The Crafters Workshop and I think I have only used it twice at this point. (Not sure why) I mixed and matched the sentiments from many different companies, however the bold die is from Verve.  I decided to cut out the circles to give the card some added dimension.  My only regret is, I think instead of outlining the circles with a black pen, I should have mounted them on black paper instead.  Well, there is always next time. The accent little pearls were carefully placed…maybe to cover up a mistake or three! LOL

I sure hope you head on over to Seize the Birthday and check out my fabulous teams work along with our guest designer Sherrie! You will be in for a treat!

BTW……Go Cubbies! Of course when this goes live, I may or may not be celebrating!  Fingers crossed!  Nanc’
