Have a Lovely Day

Hello, I am wrapping up this fabulous release with one more card using the Coastal Escape View from Spellbinders. I have channeled the talented Yana Smakula with her signature grid card this time. I do not have the stamp set from this collection so I have used a sentiment from MFT. I also have three sheets of paper to raise my background panel slightly. I have done a bit of shading with some Copics. This set does not come with coconuts so I added my own.

So Grateful for You!

Hello friends, I hope you are doing well! This card was a happy accident and I will explain why!

I am once again playing with the Spring Magnolias Better Press Plates from Spellbinders. My plan was to color the flowers and die-cut them out after I foiled them, however, when I took them off the foiler and saw that they were perfectly placed and the sentiment was even straight, I thought why not leave it be! I mean it’s covered in pink foil, what is there not to love! I think the Nestled Hemstitch Rectangles really completed this card. I am not good with ribbon so my tie at the top works okay too.

Enjoy Today

Hello Friends, Glad you are here! This is one of those cards where I just didn’t know when to say enough is good enough! I had everything done and ready to assemble when I decided to try one more thing! Does this happen to you? Hubby says that that is usually a problem with many artists, it’s knowing when to quit. Well, I quit one step too late. I will explain.

Look closely at the palm tree area and you will see that after I blended the sky and water, I tried to put a setting sun. Epic fail! The background was already just too dark to make it visible even with red ink and I should have left well enough alone. The rest of the card turned out fairly well. Although, it wasn’t my only mistake that you can see. I also had to cover up the sand that I blended by hand with Oxide Ink, as I didn’t like the way it turned out. DSP to the rescue. While I was at it, I used a piece on my little island too.

I had not had the opportunity to use the waves that come in the Coastal Escape View , so that is what tempted me to want to make another card using this terrific set.

All of the other elements of the card were either shaded with inks or Copics. The sentiment is from Stampin Up and is very old.

I appreciate all your sweet comments and visits! My studio is 90 percent done and I could not be more pleased with how it looks. It is just too pretty to mess up and I just smile from ear to ear when I walk in. All the excitement and planning has kept me awake for days. I do my best planning between the hours of midnight and 6 AM, Don’t you? Saturday night I slept for an hour and a half. My fabulous Hubby is helping me make a very cool art piece for the wall and I am painting another decorative word piece that I had in a different part of my house. Every morning hubby says, “What did you think of last night that I am making now?” 😂. I don’t know why he says such things! 😉

Thanks for Everything

Hello friends, I am in the middle of putting my studio back together and my house back to normal, and could not be more excited! The cabinets turned out great! A couple of flaws that they are going to fix next week but all in all so very pleased. Luckily, I have a few cards ready to post before any craft time resumes.

Today, I have a CAS card using the Floral E from the Every Occasion Floral Alphabet Better Press plates. This time I pressed it on turquoise colored cardstock and lightly colored it with Prisma Colored Pencils. I backed it with a darker cardstock but then I felt it still needed something else.

So I went searching for something to do! I settled on a stem from the Envelope of Wonder die set and the flowers from the Rain Boot Bouquet. I am not 100% happy with the end results, but you can’t like them all, can you!

Happy Birthday to You

Hello friends, It is time for the next Topping at Seize the Birthday. JoAnn is our wonderful hostess and she has a color challenge for us and hopefully you too. It’s an easy one, she wants us to use red as the main color on our card and or project. Fellow DT member, Barbara inspired me with her card and I appreciate that as I was at a loss for what I wanted to do. Thanks, Barb!

I know Sunflowers are not generally red, but when it comes to paper and the creative process anything is possible, right?

Card Details: The stencil I used on this card is from Spellbinders and is called Layered Sunflower. I just adore it! As mentioned above…Sunflowers are not generally red but today’s is! I used a mix of various inks to achieve the colors I was going for. Oxide Inks-Black Soot and Iced Spruce, MFT-Red Hot, and Altenew-Ruby Red. The sentiment is from Ellen Hutson-Sending Love set. The Notched Corner Frames are also from Spellbinders. I cut out the sentiment and used four more layers of cardstock to make my sentiment pop above the card base. A few silver sequins and black gems and I was done.

Happy Mother’s Day

Hello friends, I am back today with another new product released by Spellbinders this month. It is a beautiful Better Press set called Spring Magnolias by Simon Hurley. The beautiful blooms even come with three sentiments; So Grateful for You, I Love You, and Happy Mother’s Day. I don’t make a lot of Mother’s Day cards as my mom has been gone for almost 27 years now, but I do make half a dozen or so for the store.

Did you know that the Better Press ink is waterproof? Well, it is! So that is what I have done on these magnolias. Am I a professional watercolorist? LOL. Not in the least, as I barely know what I am doing. However, it is all about enjoying the process, which I did immensely! I did come in with some Prisma Colored Pencils on the leaves as I wasn’t quite happy with the tone of green I had used. It wasn’t gelling with the DSP that I had picked out.

I am still trying to use more DSP on my cards and I managed to use two pieces here. I once again used my Fiskars decorative strip and then some Foam Squares and sequins and I was done.

Floral Alphabet

Hello friends, I hope you are doing well! I finally took the time this past rainy weekend to play with Spellbinder’s Better Press Dies called Every Occasion Floral Alphabet. I was fortunate to have been sent the letters W and E to work with. As you can see, I have for you today the Floral W with a very simple sympathy card. You can’t really tell in the photo but I used silver mirrored paper for my Victorian Scallop at the base of the card. That was achieved with my Fiskars cutter. Those dainty flowers are from the SDOM Rain Boot Bouquet set. They certainly have been getting a lot of use. The center of my flowers also has silver mirrored paper. This card took 10 to 15 minutes tops to put together which is a win in my book. I somehow smudged the bottom of my white card base so that is why I have the black horizontal strip of paper. It looks better with it so it was a happy accident.

These Better Press Every Occasion Floral Alphabet plates are really beautiful all by themselves and need very little to finish off a card.

More Tulips

Hello friends, You didn’t think you had seen the last of the SDOM-Rain Boot Bouquet, did you? I have once again paired it with the fabulous Woven 3D Embossing Folder.

A Few Card Details: After I embossed my light brown card stock I lightly sponged it with some Walnut Stain Oxide Ink to give it a weathered look. I knew I needed some small leaves and I would want to add some pops of gold foliage and I found those items in the Envelope of Wonder Etched Dies set. To form my wreath base I used the Build a Wreath set and the bow is from the Christmas Wreath Ad-Ons. I did do some light sponging on my tulips. I also used my Fiskars cutter to make the decorative borders. The small white flowers can be found in the Rain Boot Bouquet set. Those tiny flowers have come in handy for all upcoming cards as well. You can never have too many flowers, in my opinion. Am I right?

Friend

Hello, It’s already the middle of the month and time for the next Hues of Colors at Color Hues. I seriously don’t know why life has to go so fast! Anybody with me? Today over at CH, Stef is our fabulous hostess and she has chosen a pretty color pairing. The Colors remind me of Spring and I know most of the country is ready for that. I certainly am but I need to be careful because mother nature might think I mean Summer. 🤣

Card Details:

  • Friend-Honey Bee Stamps
  • Border-Marth Stewart Punch and then I glued hearts in each opening.
  • Pierced Flowers-Stampin Up
  • Tiny hearts are from a Verve Border that I glued in the flower centers and on top of the smaller hearts.

It should have been a quick card but I fretted over it much longer than I should have. 😝

I am playing along over at The Flower Challenge as the challenge is to add a Heart. I think I have that covered.

I am also joining in over at Inspirational where the prompt is Hearts!

I hope you will come by the Color Hues Blog and check out the amazing cards by my Design Team and our Guest Bonnie and then join us!

Take care and I will be back very soon! Nanc’

Spring

Hello, Is it Spring yet? I don’t want to wish my life away but I am ready to wear shorts again. We have had a very cool winter here in the Sunshine State. However, today I have Spring on a card using a mix of Spellbinder products. I have not yet shared with you the new Woven 3D Embossing Folder from the Spring Sampler Collection from Simon Hurley. Look at the depth of that weave! Isn’t it pretty! Of course, I have paired it with the Small Die of the Month-Rain Boot Bouquet. I had two orange flowers and a mix of other flowers left over on my desk and I just couldn’t bear wasting them. The word Spring is from the Floating Bunny set.

*I have a lot of people asking me how I decide on the color palette on my cards. The rule I try to follow is no more than 3 color families. Of course, neutrals like white don’t count. There are always exceptions, but when I stick to this I have better success. Try it and I bet you will too!

This card really needs no explanation besides I used the smooshing technique to make my orange flowers. I love the brown polka-dotted boots paired with the light teal background with little pops of yellow, don’t you? I am going to have to remember this color trio.

HERE is the page where you can get a peek at all of the clubs along with some amazing samples. The Club kits are available for purchase by subscription and running through the 27th of the month. However, quantities are limited so if you are interested don’t delay.
