Paper Smooches

DSC_0559

Screen Shot 2015-04-11 at 3.14.09 PMHello Friends,  It’s time for another challenge over at Just Us Girls!  It’s the 5th Saturday of the month, so it’s Wildcard week, and Sharyn has chosen Paper Piecing this week. I never get tired of this technique!  I PP the paintbrush and paint tube, in case you were wondering.  I just got this new set from Paper Smooches and I couldn’t wait to start inking it up.  My hubby asked me why I waited so long to get this set, being an art teacher and all!  That is a very good question, that I have no good answer too!  This set is going to make Perfect Thank You cards for him to give to his students in years to come, and that is what this one is for.

Please come on over to Just Us Girls and check out what my fabulous teammates did this week, and while you’re there please join us!

I would also like to thank Tenia for being our Guest Designer this month, you did a Super job!!

Take care and enjoy your weekend! Nanc’

Red, White and Blue with Stars

DSC_0547

Over at Stamp TV this week my good friend Barbara is hosting their Mix It UP Monday challenge.  As soon as I saw her challenge, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.  I haven’t used my embossing paste in quite a while and I really, really LOVE this stuff!  For the challenge, Barb asked us to use the colors red, white, and blue on our project.  You can use all the colors or just one however, somewhere you must incorporate a star.  The Star stencil I decided to use is from Stampin UP. First, I cut out the oval from the top piece of white card stock so I could frame in the butterfly.  Then I stenciled it with embossing paste. Next, I heat embossed the butterfly and the sentiment with red embossing powder.  The beautiful butterfly is from the set Take Flight-Gina K Designs and it’s my absolute FAVORITE for sure!  The Sentiment is also from Gina K, called Thank You Duo.  The tiny stars were made from the inside of a Verve die cut.  I think the rest is self explanatory.  The card turned out just as I had planned!  That’s a rarity! LOL

Here is a close up too!DSC_0558

Embossed Woodgrain

DSC_053935Happy Memorial Day Weekend Friends,  I hope you are enjoying yourself!  Today’s card is for the inspiration photo over at The Card Concept.  I have been eyeing this challenge for about a week now, and finally had a chance last night to put something together.  I decided right away that I wanted to try and heat emboss my woodgrain background stamp and see if I would like it.  I must say, I think it came out great!  The beautiful daisies and leaves were made with a Sizzix die that a friend of mine asked if I was interested in purchasing from her.  Boy am I glad she asked, I LOVE them both!  I added some white dots with a gel pen and not sure I should have! Hmmmm….what do you think? I think my style for this card would be Clean and Layered.  The sentiment is a Verve set called Heartfelt Phrases that I find myself using a lot.  I bet this month I have mailed out about 20 cards for various occasions!  My stock is the lowest it has ever been, but summer is around the corner so hopefully I will have some time to replenish it.

Well, that is all for me today!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Nanc’

Inspire….

DSC_0535Hi Friends,  I made this card the other day in the mist of being home from work and on the couch sick, so I figured the only way it was actually going to get done is to go CAS!  Then it wasn’t as quick is one would think.  Now that it is photographed, I kinda wish I would have worked on those leaves a little bit more.  It’s already on it’s way to a friend of mine that in fact inspires me!  Hope she likes it well enough, and doesn’t see the imperfections that I do. I softened the photo to make it look better too! LOL  This was the first time using my new Inspire die cut from Penny Black. It’s a set of two dies, the other one is the word CREATE!  See why I bought it??  The stamp set is one of my favorites from SU- Stippled Blossoms.

Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 4.03.39 PMThe card was all inspired by this Photo challenge that we have starting today over at Just Us Girls! Isn’t it pretty?  Wish I had a foyer like that one! Please come on over to JUGS and see how the rest of the team was inspired by this photo!  While your there, I hope you get inspired to join us!  We would love it!

Have a wonderful day! Nanc’

Graduation Time Again!

DSC_0516

It’s certainly that time a year again, where you can see all the youngsters so excited about Graduation.  I remember when I graduated from HS 10 years ago (wink, wink) in someways it feels like forever ago and then somehow it feels like yesterday!  Anyhoo,  one of these cards, not sure which one yet, will be headed to a neighbor’s daughter very soon. I wanted to incorporate her school colors into the card, and NO I am not referring to the Florida Gators either….blech!  I love my relatively new to me happy Diecut from SU! I love cutting it out across two colors of paper and as you will see I used the negative space in the card below!  A twofer, which is a win win in my book! DSC_0520

Not sure you can see in the photo but I covered the cap and tassle with Crystal Effects.  The cap is not a die, I drew it myself off of a photo a few years ago and kept it as a stencil. Then after it was dry well I thought it was dry, until I ran my entire finger crossed it and smeared it a little, I decided to run it through a dot embossing folder to hide the smear marks.  It helped quite a bit! The numbers were made with a alphabet set I LOVE and the graduation sentiment comes in a SU set called Crazy About You.

I am linking one of the above cards into three separate challenges: Pink Elephant where they have a Graduation Theme and over at the Curtain Call where the Inspirational challenge is called Totally Tassle!  Then the second card into the challenge over at Mod Squad where they want us to use the negative of a die cut on our card and or project!

DSC_0531STB Anything GoesGoing to make this short and sweet today folks!  Over at Seize the Birthday it’s time for An Anything Goes Birthday Celebration and this is what I did!  All products are an assortment of, SU, Verve and MFT.  The center of my flower was made with the SU molding clay, that stuff is pretty cool.  If you have any questions about anything else please let me know!  It’s not quite the card I had planned in my head, but what’s a girl to do! :/

I am also entering this over at the Fusion Card Challenge as it matches their photo perfectly!  Love that at this challenge you can either use the photo/ use the sketch or both!

VLVMay15Week3SketchMay15DIHGraphicHello again,  This card started to come to life in my head when I came across this sketch over at Viva la Verve. They do a sketch every week and this one so happens to be for week 3, however you can go back and enter any of them, before the end of the month is up.  Love me some Verve!  Speaking of verve!  I am also going to link up my card at the May Inspiration Challenge over at the Verve Blog. Where the inspiration is titled Let it Bloom.   Time for some card details!  The sentiment is from Verve’s With Love set. The flower is a plain Jane called Elegant Flower also Verve.  The Design paper is actual from a nursery paper pack from DCWV.  It’s so pretty and glimmery too! Not sure you can see the glitz in the photo.  The leaves are cut out of vellum and embossed with a lattice EF for some texture. I also embossed the blue vertical panel with a leaf EF. The small butterfly is SU. The Dots die cut is also from Verve, one of those must haves that you can use on anything!  I have linked them up here!  It comes in a set of 3! Dots, hearts and stars!  This card is on it’s way to a special friend, that needs to know she is in my thoughts!

Hope you have a wonderful day!  Until next time! Nanc’

Thankful…

DSC_0524Hello, Hope this post finds you doing well! I have a card for you today that is for two challenges; Colour Me and Freshly Made Sketches.  I have been eyeing both of these challenges all week and finally had time to play along today.  I think the pink sun was a fun idea, what do you think?  Be honest!  I love my new Lawn Fawn die cut set and the sentiment is from Verve in the So Happy set. The DP is both Creative Memories and Ki Memories paper pack called Enchanted.  I inlaid the sun into the paper, I love that look.

Have a great start to your work week,  Take care Nanc’

Color Week…Pick at Least 3!

DSC_0497

Screen Shot 2015-04-11 at 3.07.27 PMHello Friends,  It’s Saturday and time for a new Just Us Girls challenge! It’s Color week and do we have a great option for you!  As you see in the graphic you have your choice to use all the colors or at the very least 3 of them, which is what I have done.  Neutrals are welcome as well, of course!   This card was an original design of a good friend of mine and I was thrilled when I saw her sample, because I knew it would match this week’s challenge perfectly!  A group of us got together a few weeks back for a stamping party, we had such a wonderful time!  Having this card ready was a win win for me, as I was running short on time and not feeling well to boot!

Please come on over to JUGS this week and join us, and remember if you are chosen as our Chic of the Week, you will be in the running as a possible guest designer with us in the future.  See you there!  Nanc’

Stamp set is from Stamping Up and called By the Tide.  I love it!

Watercolor Stamping

DSC_0489

ModSquadLogoHello Friends!  I had some time yesterday afternoon to make a few cards.  This particular card is for the Watercolor stamping challenge that my friend Judy is hosting over at the Mod Squad.  I had some not so good results initially, so that is why the flowers are layered with pop dots. 😉  You can never have to many flowers on a card now can you?  The flowers and leaves and butterflies are SU.  The sentiment is one of my favorites from Verve.

Thanks for stopping by today…I so appreciate it!  Nanc’
