Birds, Bees or Butterflies!

DSC_0069

STB ToppingsHello Friends, Hope you are having a good day!  As this post goes live I am in Seattle and you know that makes this Momma happy! Anyhoo, It’s time for a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday!  Our topping this time around is one I think you will really enjoy as it has a little bit of versatility.  The topping if you decide to use it is Birds, Bees or Butterflies.  As you can see in my photo I chose to use butterflies as I have a limited selection of birds and Zero bees in my stamp collections or even paper for that matter.  Remember our toppings at STB are always optional and not a requirement, so feel free to just make just a Birthday card as well.  Also, this card didn’t photograph as well as I had hoped and looks much more pleasing in person. The stamps are all from Stampin Up and that great Birthday sentiment, and banner was from some sticker packs I won at a local Scrapbook store. I covered up some of the banner flags with matching paper to make it match my card.

Have a fabulous rest of the week and please come on over to STB and see what my fabulous team and Surprise Party Guest Mynn have been up to. Take care, Nanc’

You’ll Be Missed

DSC_0024

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 5.28.53 PMHello Friends,  It’s Saturday again, and time for a brand new challenge at Just Us Girls!  Chris has picked out an awesome photo this week to inspire our creativity!  My eye was immediately drawn to the woodgrain fence, the blue rain boots, and the lush greenery.  I made this card for a very dear co-worker that is leaving our school.  She is the best Speech pathologist I have ever seen and will surely be missed! The beautiful flower and sentiment is from Stampin Up. The grass I believe is from MFT. The wood background is a large stamp from Stampabilities.  I sure hope you have a terrific weekend and if you find yourself creating, please come on over to JUGS and join us. The DT and guest Cornelia have done another great job this week. Oh on a side note….. I am finally moved back into my studio and the house window renovations are complete. I must say thanks to the window guys for making such a horrific mess. As I was wiping off every single thing in my studio, I purged once again and re-organized, and it feels good.

Take care,  Nanc’

A Little Thanks

DSC_0074

Hello Friends,  Hope your Friday is going well!  I was waiting for the window inspector this morning and thought I would make good use of my time and make a card for a few challenges that have caught my eye this week.  I struggle with CAS cards but am fairly happy with the way this one turned out. It all started with a inspiration photo (using the under the sea portion of the photo) over at a new to me challenge site called The Heart Desires, next a Sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch, followed by the great colors over at The Verve Blog, and finally the challenge to use Googley Eyes over at AAA cards.  My good friend Barbara gave me these fabulous die-cuts and I finally I came up with an idea to put them to use.  I water-colored and sponged the seahorse which was originally white. The dots and hopefully shell looking type shape behind the seahorse is a piece of vellum run through a SU embossing folder.  My friend Karen did this with a full sheet of acetate, to make an underwater scene, which was incredible, and sparked my interest this morning.  So I have two friends to thank for inspiring me to make this card this morning.  Hope you have a terrific day!  Nanc’

ConGrads!

DSC_0022

pp300I am back again today as promised with two more cards I made for some recent graduates!  I got out my Cameo and made the 2016!  I love how easy it was to do!  Not sure you can tell in the photo but the 2016 on the above one was cut out using silver vinyl. The stars are from MFT, the Sentiment is from Stampin UP, and the grad cap I drew a few years ago and made a stencil to reuse again and again. I ran it through a Stampin Up EF for texture. I am linking these cards up over at the Paper Players where they are celebrating their 300th challenge!

Here is the other one!  On this one the 2016 is just made from card stock.  I hope you are having a great week!  In case you have been on the edge of your seat and wondering….the new window guys are finally here!  See you soon! Nanc’DSC_0021

The Paper Players

DSC_0027

pp300Hello friends,  Over at the Paper Players this week they are celebrating their 300th Challenge, and they also have prizes up for grabs too, so of course I wanted to play along!  I hope a Retirement is considered a celebration to them?  It sure would be to me! LOL I would be celebrating to the cows came home!  I have been eyeing this SU set for quite sometime and I finally ordered it! It is called By the Tide and sure makes the best masculine cards! I also have this awesome turquoise embossing powder that I knew would look fabulous on that navy paper.  I hope you have a fantastic first day of Summer, however you decide (or have) to spend it!  I am still waiting for the window guys to show up!  Why can’t some companies show up with they say they will?  They were suppose to be here last Monday and they pushed me off a week, which was inconvenient.  I don’t understand why they think it’s okay to make you wait with no phone call! What if I was working and not on summer break and had taken the day off?  Okay, enough of my rant!

See you again this week sometime!  Nanc’

Live the Life…..

DSC_0036

Screen Shot 2016-04-30 at 2.43.45 PMHello Friends, I am going to make this post rather quick today as I am leaving in the morning for a few days of R and R with hubby for Father’s day weekend. I literally can’t wait!  It’s color week over at Just Us Girls, and let me just say this group of colors makes for a nice tri-fecta!  The leaves and sentiment are from Stampin Up and the flowers are from Verve!  The leaves and flowers were heat embossed. The polka dots were added with some stamps on cardstock for added interest.  I sure hope you have a wonderful weekend and if you find you have sometime to be creative…please come on over and join us at JUGS!  Who know….you maybe selected as our next Chic of the week!  Nanc’

More Coloring!

DSC_0059

STB Anything GoesHello Friends,  Happy Summer Vacation to me!  I hope it doesn’t go as fast as I think it will, since summer has been shortened by two weeks this year.  I will do my best to enjoy all that I am so very fortunate enough to get!  Today over at Seize the Birthday, it’s time for an Anything Goes challenge!  I was given 3 boxes of stamp supplies from a friend of mine the other day and inside one of the boxes was a brand new set of watercolored pencils that were never used.  I so enjoyed coloring my last post, so I thought I would give it another go, but this time with watercolors.  This stamp set from Crafter’s Companions was something I have had on my desk in hopes to color someday and I finally got the chance.  First, I heat embossed this adorable little elephant with white embossing powder, laid down some color with the pencil, and then came back with a very small paintbrush and water.  As you can tell by the closeup photo below, this was not an easy task. So many little details. Hubby chimed in his two cents when I was done and said,” You are just like my students, afraid to add to much color.”  I told him I wanted a pastel look, however I do wish my elephant could have been a little darker.  I went over her at least three times, but was so afraid to bring out the black.  I had a difficult time finishing up my card as my house is in disarray, especially my studio.  The windows are being replaced in the entire house, so things had to be moved. Then after the blinds and valances were taken down, the company postponed us for a week.  Grrrrrrr!  Anyhoo, the card got finished!  Not how I had envisioned, but that’s okay.  See you soon, Nanc’DSC_0060

Spotlighting

DSC_0051

Screen Shot 2016-04-30 at 2.34.35 PMHello Friends,  I am hosting a fun Trend Challenge this week at Just Us Girls!  The trend we are doing is called the spotlighting technique!  If you have not heard of it, I have linked up ONE of the many ways this technique can be done HERE!  I had such a good time making this card, I am really starting to enjoy coloring as it is so very relaxing. I am also glad I finally decided to ink up this beautiful stamp that I have had for quite sometime, but had been sitting on the shelf intimidating me. LOL

This stamp is from Northwood Rubber Stamps and is very large. I picked it up at a Stamp Store in Lakeland. I used Prisma colored pencils as my medium of choice!  I didn’t put a sentiment on this card as of yet, as I wanted it to be available to me if I needed it for a special occasion! There is another shot of my card below, and I sure hope you won’t let this technique scare you away and you will join us at JUGS!  You have to at least come on by and see all the fabulous cards from the Designers and our guest Cornelia!

Make Your Mark badgeI am also linking this card up over at Addicted to Stamps and More where their challenge is to make your mark.

Take care,  Nanc’

Birds at Just Us Girls

DSC_0015

Screen Shot 2016-04-30 at 2.27.40 PMHello Friends,  What day is it?  Yes, It’s Saturday and time for a new challenge over at Just Us Girls.  It’s Word Week this week and Bobby has chosen the word BIRD for us.  I was in need of a Sympathy card this past week for a co-worker, so I got out my favorite SU heart die and color combination and went to work. I cut out my branch using my dusty old Cricut….LOL that has been so neglected, and the bird is from a Stamp company called Darcies that I haven’t used in forever.  I shaded him with a regular pencil.  My sentiment is from Stampin Up as well.  I also want to welcome our Guest Designer for the month of June…..Cornelia Wenokor.  We are so glad you are with us Cornelia!!

Hope you have a wonderful day, find some time to be creative, and come on over to Just Us Girls and join us!  I know you have an old bird laying around collecting dust!  HUGS!  Nanc’

Sunshiny Day!

DSC_0042

STB ToppingsHello my friends,  It’s time for a brand new challenge over at Seize the Birthday and the topping this time around is ” Sunshine.”  Of course what is sun without a little clouds thrown in?  I may have gotten a bit carried away with my clouds…LOL.  I thought it might be fun to change it up and use some DP instead the just plain old white or grey for my clouds.  I like how it came out.  I may have heated my embossing paste a tad to long as it started to bubble, as the picture shows.  I am also linking this card up over at The Paper Players where they have a fun Tic Tac Toe theme this week.  I chose to go diagonal which was …. Yellow, Die-Cut and Paperclip. I wanted a white paperclip but couldn’t seem to get my hands on one around the house, so settled for the traditional silver with a yellow ribbon.  The stencil in from My Favorite Things, the clouds are from Lawn Fawn, and the sentiment is from Verve.

Before I go, I need to mention 3 things! First, I want to welcome Patti from Stationary Styles to the Seize the Birthday team!  She was a Surprise Party Guest with us the past two months and I just couldn’t let her sweet and talented self go!  Welcome Patti and I am super glad you are with us!!!  Next, I need to welcome our NEW Surprise Party Guest- Mynn Kitchen from On a Stampage to our team, she will be with us for the next two months!  Mynn is super involved in the Stampin world and I am sure you are familiar with her beautiful work, if not you are in for a huge treat!!  Welcome Myn!!  Last, but certainly not least!  Hubby and I had the wonderful opportunity this past Sunday to meet up with a fellow STB and JUGS design Team member Sharyn and her hubby for breakfast!  We had a very nice time it was just way to short, as they were taking a family trip that day with their son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids to Orlando!  Here is a couple of pics, that some of you have already seen on Facebook, but I love to document important parts of my life here on my blog as well.
