One More Ginger-mas

Hello, It is Christmas Eve, and I have lots of cooking/baking still to do over the next couple of days so I am popping in real quick to say hello and to share one more card with you.

I could not let the season go by without making another darling Gingergirls card. I don’t love it as much as the last one ( pictured below) and I finally figured out why. The Gingerbread girls are too dark. I must have used a different color cardstock base last time.

Also, note to self, when you are going to use white splatter paint to mimic snow…don’t ink your card base with water-reactive oxide inks. The dots are rather on the pink side now. LOL

Card Details: I did not have the Santa’s Festive Crew Collection set from the October release that has the exact dies to make the Gingerbread girls. However, I looked at my Festive Ornaments Set and Whimsical Winter Critter Collections and knew I could make it work. That is what is so great about mixing Spellbinder’s products, they are always so compatible. The background was sponged with Oxide Inks and then splattered with white paint. I also sponged the Gingerbread girls with Walnut Oxid inks and rosy-upped their cheeks with peach chalk to give them some personality. Next, it was time to die-cut the rest of the pieces and assemble them. The cute greeting comes from the Dancin’ Christmas Sentiments. I used some Foam Squares for depth. I drew their smiles with a pencil and then went over them with a black pen. A bit of a white gel pen to make their eyes sparkle.

If you missed my first card here it is. I think it is my favorite of the season.

I am linking up with Inkspirational Challenge where the word is Celebrate. I read the guidelines and Holidays are included for this challenge.

I leave you with a picture of my grand dog, Atlas. He was helping me make his daddy’s birthday cake on the 22nd. He may have gotten a bit carried away with the flour. I can not believe how much he has grown in the past month! We have a bet on who can guess his exact weight when they all get back home. I have 62 pounds. We weighed him about ten days ago and he was nearly 50. He gains about 5 pounds a week.

Merry Christmas to all! Take care, Nanc’

A Million Thanks/Love You Always

Hello there! Long time no post! I hope you are doing well. You all know how hectic the Holiday Season can be, plus, I still have family in town and that has been keeping me rather busy!

However today, I seem to have wrapped up Christmas and have fallen back into Fall…LOL.

I have two Clean and Simple cards using a very pretty die-cut from Spellbinders called Sunflower Serenade. In the past when I have taken a break from card-making, I always start back up by caseing myself, because it takes a little bit of time to get my mojo back up and running. Does anyone else have this problem?

If you want to see the first cards that I made, HERE they are!

Now the cards by themselves.

Card Details: The gorgeous DSP is retired and from Stampin Up, and the Elliptical Oval Dies are my fav from Spellbinders. I used my Fiskars cutter to do my decorative edge on card two. The sentiment is from a Better Press set called Fancy Sentiment Better Press Plates and it was foiled instead of pressed. I adore this sentiment set because you can foil and then cut them out ALL at once, which makes it nice as you always have extra sentiments ready to go in a pinch. I cut my sunflowers out and decided to triple them for more depth. I then used a blending brush with some orange Oxide Ink to make them come to life a bit. Of course, I had to add my paper gold embellishments.

I Love You More…

Hello, I heard that today was National Hot Chocolate Day and I already attended to share this card, so I thought that was a funny coincidence. I have a mash-up of products on this card that was first centered around the fun Merry Mug Creations from Spellbinders.

Have you ever made a card and no matter what you did to it you are not even sure you should forge ahead and finish it? Well, this is that card. I think the color combination that I started with kinda derailed this one. Oh well, we can’t like them all, can we!

Details: The heart Stencil is from Honey Bee Stamps. The decorative border was made with my Fiskars cutter and the sentiments are from the retired company Verve. I took the candy-cane die that comes in the Merry Mug set and cut it down to make a straw. I did some light beige blending on the marshmallows and used Copics on the chocolate. The Notched Corner Frames came in handy once again.

Thinking of You

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am back today with card #2 using the darling House Mouse Stamp from the House Mouse Winter Collection that was released by Spellbinders this month. On this card, I used the entire stamp instead of just one mouse like I did on my previous card. I am not particularly fond of mice, at least not the live ones, but these guys are utterly adorable and easy to color.

Details: After I was done coloring my mice with Copic and Prisma Colored Pencils I decided to frame them in using my favorite Notched Corner Frames, I am hooked on these. The background was done with Kitsch Flamingo Oxide ink and a stencil from Miss Ink Stamps called Perfect Plaid. A few paper sparkles and I was done.

Noel

Hello, I had a block of time yesterday and decided to make a Christmas card using this fabulous set from Spellbinders called Layered Noel Christmas Stencil and Die. If you didn’t see my first card with this set, I have it linked HERE! It certainly is a pretty stencil and not hard to do either! The best part is when you mess up on the greeting you have a chance to re-do it on another piece of cardstock, and this time you can cut it out with the coordinating die and add layers to make it pop. I may or may not be speaking from experience. LOL

Before I got started, I went looking for a challenge to partake in, and came across the perfect colors over at The Color Throwdown. I used two different ink colors for my stencil work and then some Gold Glitter Paste as well. There is something about a matching envelope that makes a card boost to the next level, don’t you think?

Thinking of U

Hello friends, It’s release day over at Spellbinders and the stamp I have used on today’s card is from the House Mouse Winter Collection. They have 4 darling designs in this release and the stamp I got to work with is called We Heart You. What I love most about these House Mouse stamps is they are easy to color when coloring is not your strength…like me. I totally enjoy the process but I lack the confidence. Coloring is something I hope to do more of in the New Year.

For my first card, decided to just use one of the mice instead of all three which you can see below.

Believe it or not, I did not make a mask of the mouse when making this card. I blended the pink background first and then stamped the mouse. If you look closely, you can perhaps tell. However, instead of making Mr. Mouse a normal brown color, I added a bit of Burnt Sienna to hide the pink. The sentiment that comes with the set says Thinking of You and I just didn’t ink up the you. I used Copic and Prismas as my medium.

I am linking up with Darnell over at NBUS as this is the first card I made with this stamp.

…Holiday Treat

Hello, I finally had the chance to play with the entire Merry Mug Creation set from Spellbinders, and boy does this coffee-loving girl love it. However, today I have hot chocolate in my cup and not coffee. Although in the photo the chocolate looks like I used black paper but trust me it’s dark brown. Unfortunately, the sun was not shining when I took this photo, which is been happening a lot lately here in the Sunshine State. I hope that the weather pattern clears up soon as this girl doesn’t like gloomy skies.

Aren’t those marshmallows and candy canes so cute? I am going to have to make another card soon so I can actually roast the marshmallows with a touch of brown instead of grey. I also just love the Loops embossing folder for the background and I hadn’t used it in a while.

I am entering my card over at the Festive Friday Challenge using the categories; Red, Brown, White, Candy Canes, Embossing, and Hot Drinks.

Hello Crafters, Today I am thrilled to be guesting with the talented team over at Freshly Made Sketches. My entry for their #600 challenge was one of the cards chosen for an upcoming Guest Designer Spot, and today is the day I get to share my card with you.

Here is the fun sketch by Karren that I got to work with. There are oodles of possibilities with this one.

Here is a close-up of my card. This card took many twists and turns before I landed on an idea I was happy with.

Card Details: The two Victorian edge borders were made with my Fiskars cutter and mounted on DSP. The Bow, the Candy Canes, Holly, Sentiment, Ornament Topper, and Scalloped Circles are all Spellbinders and are listed below. The snowfall EF is from SU. I shaded the bow with some Black Oxide ink.

Let Your Star Shine Bright

Hello, I am back today with another Christmas card using one of my favorite color combinations of Red and Aqua and many Spellbinder products. Are you finished with your Christmas cards yet? I am getting there, as I thought I was done, but apparently someone miscounted…LOL. I also used a Snowflake stencil from Miss Ink Stamps to make this card come together. After I stenciled the snowflakes and center of the bauble in Aqua ink, I had to use some Nuvo Glitter paste to give it that Holiday shine. All the Spellbinder products are linked for you below.

This card was very much inspired by a card that I saw Jennifer McGuire make. You can find it here. I also added a piece of Vellum behind the Notched Corner Frames to soften the background for the bauble. The sentiment comes in the Dancin’ Christmas Sentiment set.

Here is a close-up.

I am playing along with The Paper Players where the theme is Christmas and also over at Inkspirational Challenges where they are asking for Glitter, I think I have that covered as this card definitely has a ton of sparkle.
